David J. Hodgetts, C.O. Mr. Hodgetts, a Certified Orthoptist, or physician’s assistant trained in the diagnosis and management of disorders of binocular function and ocular motility, has worked in ophthalmology since 1985. He completed his combined training as an orthoptist and ophthalmic medical technologist at the University of Florida in 1993. He subsequently taught there and later, as Head Orthoptist, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Hodgetts has worked with Drs. Simon and Zobal-Ratner since 1996 and holds a faculty position as Assistant Professor in ophthalmology at Albany Medical Center.
Mr. Hodgetts, a native of Great Britain, was president of the American Association of Certified Orthoptists (AACO) and has served as a national board examiner for the American Orthoptic Council. He has published in several ophthalmic journals and has presented at regional and national meetings on numerous occasions. He received the Richard G. Scobee Memorial Award from the AACO in 1993 and their Honor Award in 2002. He is a member of the International Orthoptic Association, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, and the American Academy of Pediatrics Section of Ophthalmology.
